Proposed Roster Changes
In an effort to encourage senior staff to work the FCI housing units the union would like to propose the realignment of days off to include at least a Saturday, Sunday or possibly both.
As discussed at the current Partnership Meeting the Captain stated that he would realign the of days off for two units on Evening Watch. With the following conditions:
a. That the union could provide information showing that it would not effect any elements of the Correctional Services Compliment.
b. That the changes would not add any additional costs to the department or institution.
The Proposal
After reviewing the current roster it was noted that all relief posts on Evening Watch had at least one day off during the weekend. It was determined the easiest way to give two units one on the west and one on the east was to swap days off with another post (i.e. a relief post ) to be exact the unit relief posts ER-7 & ER-8. By doing this it would effect the days off of a minimal amount of posts on the roster to include:
a. ER-7
b. ER-8
c. Lower East
d. Upper West
Changes
Change 1
Under the current roster ER-7 has Friday and Saturday off while Lower East has Tuesday and Wednesday off. The change would simply swap the days of the posts leaving ER- 7 with Tuesday and Wednesday off and Lower East with the more favorable days off of Friday and Saturday.
Change 2
Under the current roster ER-8 has off Saturday and Sunday while Upper West has Monday and Tuesday off. The change would simply swap the days of the posts leaving ER- 8 with Monday and Tuesday off and Upper West with the more favorable days off of Saturday and Sunday .
Coverage
Below is a chart that shows how the proposed changes would still allow for coverage of all the posts effected. With the changing of only the units and the unit relief posts the compliment is not changed in the least bit only the days that they have off.

Conclusion
The union feels that all of the criteria has been met as discussed at the partnership meeting. We hope that management will review and agree that this is a sound proposal.
