I just wanted to thank all of you who came and sent people to our informational picket last Tuesday (September 21, 2004). The rain did tamper it  somewhat.  We were soaked with rain and mud, but we still had well over 100 people at our peak. I am sure at least a thousand cars went by. Many of them were given flyers about our situation.  We did not get quite as much media coverage as we would have liked (the rain may have helped prevent this) but we did receive coverage. Channel 4 news showed the event on the 6:00pm news that night.  One airing of course reaches thousands of people. If I can, I will get a transcript. I heard Phil was on.  (He even looked wet!!!)

I will keep you posted if anything comes up later.

The bottom line is - we kept up the fight and to take our case to the public and those in office, to do what is right and not follow the will-of-the-wisp of privatization, dangerous budget cuts and anti-civil service corporate profiteering. Colorado is too close to call right now and every effort and everybody counts.

Please pass this on to anybody at your facility who supported this picket, but may not be on this e-mail.

Thank you also to the 709 E-board who worked hard on this event and to the many 709 members who came out. Bye for now.

In Unity,
